According to Chief Nicole Mosley of the McMinnville Police Dept., Wiley meet his friends, 30 year old James Garrett and his wife Megan at their residence on Fair St. on Friday night. The three traveled to Murfreesboro and went into several bars in the area. On their way back an argument between Wiley and Garrett ensued and they pulled off Highway 70 between Murfreesboro and Woodbury and got into a physical altercation. After a few minutes the two got back in the car and drove back to the Garrett’s residence on Fair St. After they arrived Garrett told Wiley he needed to leave. After Wiley refused, Garrett went inside his residence and came outside with an AR-15 rifle. Garrett warned him again to leave and then Wiley charged at Garrett prompting him to open fire with multiple rounds, two hitting a residence across the street, and struck Wiley. Warren Co. EMS arrived on the scene and transported Wiley to River Park Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Mosley said Garrett was arrested and charged with criminal homicide. He is being held at the Warren Co. Jail without bond and will appear in General Sessions Court on Tuesday.
